CYCLING along the coastal dual-use path between Hillarys and Burns Beach at this time of year, I often sight an amazing flash of azure blue and white flitting amongst the low shrubs.

The incredible blue is that of these blue beach beauties that are male white-winged fairy wrens in their mating plumage.

Variegated Fairy Wrens with their blue, brown, black and white plumage are also inhabiting the coastal shrubbery. GARY TATE, Greenwood
