BIG Bash cricket re­turns to Li­lac Hill later this month af­ter a thrilling game on Sun­day.

The Perth Scorchers lost a Women’s Big Bash League thriller to lad­der leader Syd­ney Thun­der.

The Thun­der skipped a game clear of their Syd­ney ri­vals, the Six­ers, at the top of the lad­der af­ter their fi­nal-ball vic­tory over Perth.

The Scorchers needed three runs off the fi­nal de­liv­ery and Mathilda Carmichael was run out on her way back for a sec­ond run to tie the game. The fi­nal score was Thun­der 6-145 and the Scorchers 6-144.

The Scorchers, who made last sea­son’s fi­nal, avenged the loss on Monday night, de­feat­ing the Thun­der by eight wick­ets at the WACA Ground. Perth is fifth with five wins from eight matches. They next play at Li­lac Hill on January 21, host­ing the Ho­bart Hur­ri­canes.
