WESTERN AUSTRALIA has broken a 13-year hoodoo to be crowned Girls’ Interstate champions at Royal Perth Golf Club.

Maddison HinsonTolchard, Eve Cohen, YeahJin Lee, Kathryn Norris, Kirsten Rudgeley and Abbie Teasdale were dominant throughout the week, going through the event with only one loss.

It was the Sandgropers’ first Interstate Championship since 2005 when they had success at the Glenelg Golf Club in South Australia.

Coach Kerrod Gray said the girls bonded well as a team.

“Each team member was equally as instrumental in all of our victories,” he said.

“We just put ourselves in a position on the last day where we couldn’t be beaten. “To cap off the week with the performance that we did, everyone is just really happy.”
