BUZZING from its recent competition, the Indian Blue Chorus is holding an open house to showcase all things a cappella.

The Burns Beach-based women’s barbershop chorus has just returned from the Sweet Adelines Australia Convention in Hobart, which hosted about 950 female a cappella vocalists from all over the country.

“We took 32 of our almost 50 members to join in the excitement, camaraderie and education and it was a fantastic experience for us,” member Lou Patchitt said.

“We were armed with a brand new song, arranged especially for Indian Blue and never previously used in competition.

“This challenging song required lots of commitment, energy and excitement and to help us prepare this song for the stage, we took on the ‘Stepping It Out To Hobart Challenge’ where members were encouraged to get out and walk to build stamina for this impressively fast and dynamic song.”

The competition featured 23 choruses and 23 quartets taking part.

Now the chorus is keen to share its passion and recruit new members.

The open house will be held from 7pm on June 5 at Bramston Park Community Centre.
