BETWEEN them, northern suburbs residents Geoffrey Gorham and Keith Talbot have saved more than 3300 lives. They were among 800 milestone donors across Perth recognised for their generosity and lifesaving achievements as part of National Blood Donor Week from September 2 to 8. Mr Gorham, of Duncraig, first donated blood in the 1960s and now he donates plasma every two weeks at the Edgewater Blood Donor Centre. “Donating blood is a good way to contribute to society,” he said. “It’s such a good thing to do and takes so little time.” Mr Talbot, of Mindarie, started donating in 1988, inspired by his dad’s diagnosis of pancreatic cancer and the blood donations that helped to save his life. He said when he first started donating, his aim was to reach 50 donations. Now he donates plasma and platelets every fortnight, also at the Edgewater centre. To donate, call 13 14 95 or visitnate
