Have your say on HOAs
The City is engaging with members of the community who want to have their say on the new Planning Framework for infill development in the City of Joondalup. There are 10 existing areas or nodes in the City where residential properties can be developed at higher densities; these areas are known as Housing Opportunity Areas (HOAs) Independent consultants are currently reviewing the City’s approach to infill. This review includes an online survey, which is available at until Monday 29 October 2018. Data from this survey will be collated and analysed by the consultants. Five Listening Posts will be held later in the month, where project team members will be on hand to hear the key issues and opportunities raised by members of the public. The sessions will be held at: Kingsley Memorial Clubrooms, Kingsley Wednesday 17 October — 9.30am to 1.30pm Emerald Park Clubrooms, Edgewater Thursday 18 October — 5.30pm to 8.30pm Joondalup Civic Centre, Joondalup Saturday 20 October — 9.30am to 1.30pm Fleur Freame Pavilion, Padbury Tuesday 23 October — 9.30am to 1.30pm and Dorchester Hall, Warwick Wednesday 24 October — 5.30pm to 8.30pm. Residents have until the end of the month to nominate an inspiring member of the community for the Community Citizen of the Year Awards. The awards reward and recognise individuals and organisations who have made a notable contribution during the current year, and/or those who have given outstanding service over a number of years. There are four categories: Citizen of the Year, Citizen of the Year – Youth (under 25 years of age on 26 January), Citizen of the Year – Senior (above 65 years of age on 26 January) and the Award for Active Citizenship (group/event). Nominations close Wednesday 31 October and can be made at The winners will be announced at the City’s Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony on 26 January 2019.

Join the City and LandCorp at the Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club on Sunday 7 October to view the refined concept plan for Ocean Reef Marina. Community members can help shape the public spaces at the marina and have plenty of family-friendly fun in the process. Ocean Reef Marina is set to become a world-class tourism, residential, retail and recreation precinct, meeting the needs of the boating and fishing community, local residents and visitors alike. The planning stages of this exciting marina development are well underway. The open day runs from 10.00am-4.00pm.
