Carpark closed to fix tree damage
A CARPARK on Davidson Terrace in the Joondalup city centre will close later this year for an upgrade.
People who use P4 parking station have been advised to make alternative arrangements, with works scheduled to start in late October and expected to be completed by the end of November.
These works will be to fix significant asphalt damage from tree roots, which has resulted in the loss of 15 existing parking bays within the carpark, while other areas have degraded beyond repair and need to be replaced.
The City of Joondalup said its arborist and parking teams had worked together to minimise the impact on the trees and maximise parking.
As many trees as possible will be retained and new appropriate species of trees will be planted and given an area to grow to reduce the future impact on the carpark.
“While the City acknowledges there may be some inconvenience for workers and visitors to the City that use this carpark, d487260 the closures are for a relatively short period and are necessary to ensure these essential works can be carried out,” Mayor Albert Jacob said.
Alternative parking is available in the nearby Reid Promenade multistorey carpark.
