HEART-PUMPING motorsport action will roar into the Hills when WA’s premier tarmac rally, Targa West, revs into action from August 10 to 13.

The 13th Targa West rally has attracted 57 teams in a mix of performance, classic and exotic vehicles.

It kicks off with the ceremonial start in the heart of the CBD on Thursday, August 10, from 11am to 1.30pm at Forrest Place, after which competitors will head to stages in Wanneroo and Malaga.

On Friday, August 11, the action takes place in the Perth Hills, where classics cars such as the Mustang, Holden Torana, Porsche 911, Datsun 240z and Ford Escort line up alongside modern machines including Lotus Elise, Holden HSV, Mitsubishi Evo, Porsche 996 and Subaru WRX.

Targa West event director Ross Tapper said he was looking forward to the event.

“There’s plenty of opportunities to see the cars up close on display, as well as dedicated spectator points along the stages to watch them race, and it’s all free,” he said.

Racing for the fastest time over 242km, stages will be held in Whiteman Park, Kalamunda and the Zig Zag, Toodyay, Lower Chittering and Bullsbrook, before the City of Perth Super Stage at Langley Park on Sunday from noon.
