Picture: Martin Kennealey THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME

Kalamunda Reporter - - Look Local -

might still be the middle of a chilly, wet winter, but North Fremantle artist Francesca Gnagnarella is already looking to spring.

A collection of new nature-inspired pieces celebrating the new life, energy and bursting colours of the season will be in her new exhibition Promise of Spring, but the hanging of the work won’t be done in the usual way.

Much like you can’t appreciate the beauty of a flower if it’s not in its natural setting, Gnagnarella has tried to make sure the artwork can be truly appreciated by the viewer by hanging it in a re-created home-like scenario.

“For me, art completely ties a room together and becomes the visual focal point, which can elevate a room significantly,” she said.

“I love to display my artworks in my gallery apartment in North Fremantle, to create living rooms in which the clients could picture themselves at home.

“It is much easier to visualise an artwork in a homely space, above a couch, a dining table, or a bed, so I wanted to recreate a similar situation for my upcoming exhibition.”

She said she was lucky she was able to turn her passion into her career and hoped visitors to the exhibition would feel this passion in her work.

“I believe art should make you feel good in whatever way is important to you,” she said.

“When you share a moment with it and provoke truly good feelings, artworks can inspire, soothe and uplift you.

“I believe my paintings have a colourfulness and depth that allow you to take what you need from them; sometimes they lift your spirit, sometimes they sooth rushing thoughts and sometimes they do both simultaneously.”

Promise of Spring is on at Seven Willow Designs in Mt Lawley until September 10.
