Try before you buy at mock meetings

Kalamunda Reporter - - Opinion -

THE City of Kalamunda is leading the way, with the first ever mock council meeting for community members thinking about standing for Council.

Chief executive Rhonda Hardy said any eligible ratepayer could stand for election.

“We are giving community members a chance to put themselves in the council’s shoes, sit in the council chambers and participate in a mock meeting,” she said.

“We understand it is the first time an event like this has been held for prospective candidates and have had some really encouraging feedback from the Electoral Commission.

“I strongly encourage residents to get on board and support this innovative idea and make it a success by your participation.

“Ask your questions and find out about nominating for Council.”

The free seminar will be held in the Council Chambers, 2 Railway Road, Kalamunda on September 5 at 5.30pm. To RSVP call 9257 9956.
