AGAIN, yet again, you head­line the need for us to vote in our lo­cal elec­tions.

In State and Fed­eral elec­tions most of us vote for the party our can­di­date rep­re­sents.

But, in lo­cal elec­tions, all I have to go on is a list of names, none of whom I know, and of whose abil­i­ties I have no idea. (Oh yes, prospec­tive coun­cil­lor a,b,etc. have lived in the ward for z years, and brought up their fam­ily here; there­fore they are our BEST rep­re­sen­ta­tive.)

So, should I vote for the most at­trac­tive name, or not vote at all? Per­haps the whole sys­tem needs re­vis­ing to let us know who (if we vote at all) we are vot­ing for.
