COMMUNITY radio station KCR 102.5fm will create soundwaves in the Hills at its fundraiser at the Lesmurdie Club later this month.
KCRfm chairwoman Monica Martinovich said all money raised would go towards the station’s building fund.
“We are temporarily located in Gooseberry Hill but we need permanent premises,” she said.
“We want to make it a building for other community groups to use, especially local musicians, be they hip-hop, classical or anything in-between.
“A rehearsal/recording room is also part of the plan to help budding musicians from all genres.”
KCRfm is managed and operated entirely by volunteers and is broadcast to Belmont, Kalamunda, Midland and Mundaring.
Soundwaves in the Hills is on October 14 at 7pm and will feature live music by the Kalamunda Swing Band, Booby Trap and the station’s own rock band.
