Throssell powers up to go full throttle at Games
WA swim star Brianna Throssell says she will target personal bests at the Commonwealth Games.
The 22-year-old will suit up for Australia in the 100m and 200m butterfly, as well as team relays.
She said her great form at the recent trials, where she clocked some personal best times, had her confident of a good showing on the Gold Coast.
“I’ll be really happy if I can better those,” she said.
Throssell says her eighth-placed finish in the final of the 200 butterfly at the Rio Olympics had provided incentive for her to go faster.
“I was a little bit disappointed but it was my first Olympics, so I was nervous,” she said.
“So I came home, changed clubs, took a couple of weeks off, caught up at uni. “I didn’t really need to soul search. “I came back more motivated then ever. That was how I took Rio: ‘it’s a bit disappointing but let’s go now’.
“It’s been really good since then.”
