Silver status win for City’s environmental targets

Kalgoorlie Miner - - NEWS -

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder has received an award from environmental reporting consultants Planet Footprint for improvements in environmental performance across its operations.

The silver standard award for 2013-14 was presented to Mayor Ron Yuryevich at the ordin- ary council meeting on Monday.

The City, which was awarded the silver standard for its commitment to monitoring and involving the entire organisation in meeting sustainability goals, engaged Planet Footprint in a bid to become a smarter user of energy, water and fuel.

The City won a bronze standard award last year, and the recent awarding of a silver standard demonstrates a greater level of commitment to sustainability practices this year.

Mr Yuryevich said the City was dedicated to pursuing further green initiatives.
