Meet­ing to dis­cuss elec­tion rights

The rights and re­spon­si­bil­i­ties of Aus­tralian cit­i­zens in lo­cal, State and Fed­eral elec­tions are set to be dis­cussed at the Burt Street Com­mu­nity Hub to­day.

Held by the WA Gov­ern­ment’s Of­fice of Mul­ti­cul­tural In­ter­ests, the work­shop is for rep­re­sen­ta­tives from cul- tu­rally and lin­guis­ti­cally di­verse com­mu­nity or­gan­i­sa­tions.

Sparked by the up­com­ing Kal­go­or­lie-Boul­der lo­cal gov­ern­ment elec­tions, the work­shop is de­signed to raise aware­ness of Aus­tralia’s po­lit­i­cal sys­tem and the rights and re­spon­si­bili- ties of cit­i­zens. The work­shop will be held at Burt Street Com­mu­nity Hub in Boul­der from 10am to 12.30pm and is or­gan­ised in part­ner­ship with the Con­sti­tu­tional Cen­tre of Western Aus­tralia, Elec­toral Ed­u­ca­tion Cen­tre and Aus­tralia Day WA.
