Regis Resources founder Nick Gior­getta is step­ping down as chair­man of the WA gold miner af­ter six years as part of a ma­jor board reshuf­fle an­nounced yes­ter­day.

Mr Gior­getta will take a back seat, but will con­tinue as a non-ex­ec­u­tive di­rec­tor of the com­pany, with man­ag­ing di­rec­tor Mark Clark tak­ing on an ex­ec­u­tive chair­man role and chief op­er­at­ing of­fi­cer Paul Thomas el­e­vated to an ex­ec­u­tive di­rec­tor role.

Non-ex­ec­u­tive di­rec­tor Mark Okeby will be­come deputy chair- man and board mem­ber Frank Fer­gus­son will re­tire.

Mr Gior­getta, who will chair his fi­nal an­nual gen­eral meet­ing on Novem­ber 12, said he had great con­fi­dence in the ca­pa­bil­ity of the new Regis ex­ec­u­tive team.

“The tran­si­tion of Mark Clark to ex­ec­u­tive chair­man is a pos­i­tive out­come for Regis and will en­sure that the unique cul­ture of the or­gan­i­sa­tion that we have worked hard to cre­ate con­tin­ues,” he said.

Regis operates the Duke­ton gold project near Laver­ton, with its Moolart Well, Gar­den Well and Rose­mont mines pro­duc­ing 75,416oz dur­ing the Septem­ber quar­ter.
