A bird’s eye view of one of KalgoorlieBoulder’s best-known landmarks has been named one of the best images of the Australian landscape.

The photograph of the Super Pit and adjacent town by Sydney-based photographer Hayley Anderson was highly commended in this year’s Ge- oscience Australia’s Top GeoShot photography competition.

Called Rocks of Gold, the shot was one of 68 finalists shortlisted from 317 entries in the earth sciences national competition.

Geoscience visualisation and science promotion team leader Bobby Cerini said Ms Anderson’s image embodied the 2015 theme of Rock Stars.
