Model ‘ecstatic’ to make top six at competition
A Kalgoorlie-Boulder teenager has fallen just short of taking out a national modelling title.
Tahnee Dekker travelled to Sydney this month as part of the Miss Teen Australia competition, after making it into the top six in the country.
The 15-year-old was the only WA contestant to make the finals.
The John Paul College student has been modelling for about 18 months.
She said she was “ecstatic” with her result in the competition.
“I was so happy to even make it to Sydney because I didn’t think that would happen,” she said. “I couldn’t be more happy.”
Tahnee said she loved modelling and her dream was to become a “high-fashion model or a model for Seafolly”, but she was also considering her options in business.
“I know it won’t last forever because there is an age cutoff,” she said. “Ultimately I want to start my own business, so my name is a brand for selling jewellery, clothing, makeup and perfume.”
The teen model now has her sights set on the Miss Teen Galaxy competition.
“My sponsors for Miss Teen helped me so much, so I do want to thank them all,” she said.
Tahnee Dekker, 15, was the only WA contestant to make the Miss Teen finals.
