Local brewers to cheers new beers
An Esperance brewery has plans to increase its production, with two new beers ready to hit the market in coming weeks.
Since opening six weeks ago, Lucky Bay Brewing has begun to get the business ball rolling, brewing on average once a week.
The brewery currently sells three beers but will soon be adding two more to its collection — a homestead ale and a dark beer.
The Lucky Bay team has been enjoying naming the new beers, with owner Nigel Metz listing a number of inventive names for their new products.
“The dark beer is going to be called Black Jack Pirate Porter after the pirate out on Middle Island,” he said.
“He was Australia’s only known pirate and he was a bit of a rough and wild fellow, so that’s why we’ve chosen him.”
He said another beer would be called Cyclops, which would be “big, heavy and serious” like the Esperance “Cyclops” surf break.
Mr Metz said he hoped to expand distribution across the region, with his sights set on getting the brewery’s beer into some Kalgoorlie pubs.
He said come winter, the company would be doing more experiments, hoping to incorporate local honey into their drinks.
Lucky Bay was launched at the Pier hotel in December.
