Taking it on the chin
BELOVED BEARD TO GO FOR GOOD CAUSE
TIM Jeffery has not shaved his beard since Anzac Day last year, much to the dismay of his bosses.
Mr Jeffery is Kwinana Woolworths store manager and after a request for help from the Peel Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA), it looks like both his bosses will get their wish.
He was planning to shave his beard yesterday to raise funds for Peel RDA.
Mr Jeffery, group manager David Lannary and state manager Robert Moffat, other Woolworths stores around Perth and donations from local customers have raised $10,000 for the Peel RDA.
It will help it with its move to a new facility at Mead Farm.
“The RDA contacted David asking if we would be interested in helping, so they invited us to the facilities they are currently using at Baldivis Pony Club,” Mr Jeffery said.
“On the day they had some kids from Leda and we saw how great it was for them.”
“Kwinana locals are passionate about local causes.
“Then I jokingly said ‘I’ll even shave my beard for you’. My boss (David) jumped straight on that and immediately offered to put in money – he has been keen to see my beard gone for a while.”
“Robert also jumped on it. He said ‘I’m more than happy to see that thing gone’ – he likes giving me a razzing about my beard.”
Two other Woolworths store managers, Rebecca Sharland from Wellard and John Leeder from Baldivis, have also donated to see the beard gone.
“The local community has been all over it; without our customers we never would have been able to do it,” Mr Jeffery said.
