Rock of Ages at Koorliny

JUKEBOX musical Rock of Ages will rock Koorliny Arts Centre in March.

Directed by Steve Carr, the first production in the Koorliny Centre and Kwinana Industries Council 2018 performance season is built around classic rock songs from the 1980s, notably the famous glam metal bands.

A universal tale of fame and fortune and memorable music, Rock of Ages features songs from Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Steve Perry, Poison and Europe among others.

It’s the tail end of the big bad 1980s in Hollywood and the party has been raging hard.

Aqua Net, Lycra, lace and liquor flow freely at one of Sunset Strip’s last legendary venues, a place where sex machine Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and scantily clad groupies line up to turn their fantasies into reality.

Amid the madness, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing, and longs for small town girl Sherri, fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes.

But the rock and roll fairy tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into another capitalist strip mall.

Can Drew, Sherry and the gang save the strip – and themselves – before its too late? Only the music holds the answer. The performance contains coarse language, adult themes, drug and sexual references and is recommended for ages 15 plus.

Flashing lights (not strobe) are also part of the show and may be uncomfortable for some audience members.

Rock of Ages is on March 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 and 17 with matinees on March 10 and 17.

Tickets are available from www.koor or the box office on 9467 7118.
