“That used to be how road trips worked in a car, right?
“We’d travel in a convoy and all the kids would swap around seats.”
Lukich’s pet hate is the rightlane road hog.
“I hate it; they don't understand the rules and they delay everyone,” she said.
Lukich learnt to drive in a 1984 Mazda MX-6 she inherited from her elder brother.
“It was a manual, so I learnt how to do hill starts and bunny hop. By the time I passed it on, one door was broken and there were bits falling off.”
Family, a key part of Lukich’s life, helps keep her grounded amid the high-profile hype.
Her extended clan are “my biggest critics”.
“I’ll be at a family lunch and one of the uncles will say, ‘did you choose that dress you wore the other night?’ or ‘why did you ask that question?’.
“It just doesn’t let up.”
