Stanhope enjoys elementary victory

-

STANHOPE Netball Club captain Molly Breen said her team would be looking to bring a higher level of intensity to their game against Tallygaroopna on Sunday in the Kyabram District Netball League.

The team overcame a slow start on Saturday to defeat Violet Town 50-31 on the weekend and will now face off against Tallygaroopna.

Breen said a team conversation at quarter time on Sunday helped the team refocus and win the game.

‘‘We started to settle into our positions and our nerves started to settle,’’ she said.

‘‘Our movement across the court was probably our strength.’’

Breen said Casey Livingston in wing and goal attack and Jamieson Vick in centre and wing attack were best on court on the day.

Looking to this weekend’s game, Breen said there would be some nerves when the Lions faced Tallygaroopna on Sunday, who defeated them in the same semi-final game last year.

However she said players were looking forward to the challenge.

Breen also said most of the players had played in finals games before and so were unlikely to be thwarted by nerves on the day.

‘‘Most of us have played finals before so we go really well,’’ she said.

‘‘I think we’ll just stick to what we’ve been doing - working as a team.’’
