Go all in for cup glory

-

ONE of the Kyabram Club’s main yearly events – the Melbourne Cup Calcutta – is on again on Monday night.

A traditional event on cup eve for over a half century, the Calcutta attracts a lot of people who are not died-in-the-wool racing fans but, like most, love a flutter on the race that stops a nation.

Some serious syndicates chase the big money on offer at the Calcutta.

Last year’s pool was just on $28,000 and the ‘Westies’ syndicate had the winner, Prince Of Penzance, and pocketed $16,756 for their troubles.

Tickets in the calcutta are available at the club before or on the night.

And Traps’ tip in the big race: The Japanese runner Curren Mirotic on an eachway basis. Oceanographer could be the best outsider if he gets a run.
