Accused robber hands himself in
AN ACCUSED armed robber wanted by police for almost a year has been arrested.
Echuca detectives arrested Peter Hooper, 42, last Tuesday after he handed himself into police.
The former Kyabram man was wanted for outstanding warrants relating to armed robbery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, intentionally and recklessly causing injury.
The offences relate to an incident in September last year where a 40-year-old Kyabram man reported being taken for a drive, threatened with a firearm, assaulted and robbed.
Hooper was arrested and interviewed after the incident and released on summons to appear in Echuca Magistrates Court in January 2016.
He failed to appear as he moved to Queensland.
Hooper appeared in Echuca Magistrates Court on Tuesday where he was bailed, without police opposition, on strict conditions, including a curfew.
He is due to appear at Bendigo Magistrates Court on February 1 for a committal mention.
