New rules to slow down
THIS has had its share of air play but we think it’s well worth giving it a run for those who aren’t aware.
From this weekend motorists travelling in Victoria must slow down to 40km/h or below that speed when passing a stationary of slow moving emergency service vehicle when its lights are flashing.
The new rule comes into effect from this Saturday, July 1, in an effort to improve safety conditions for emergency and enforcement workers.
The new rule applies to all road types including freeways.
Emergency service vehicles covered under this law include police, Ambulance Victoria, Country Fire Authority, Metropolitan Fire Brigade, State Emergency Service and VicRoads.
