On-court action hots up
IT’S been a busy few weeks for the Kyabram Lawn Tennis Club.
And it’s looking an exciting few months ahead.
After six years at the club, Melissa Clark has taken over from club stalwart Barry Morris as president, while Bon Morris and Melissa Porch have stepped in as the new secretaries.
Plus the Hot Shots tennis program, ladies midweek tennis, Saturday junior and senior comps and Twilight Tennis are all around the corner.
And the club will be hosting a registration day on Friday at the club so you can book your spot.
With a barbecue, a serve speed gun and pristine courts free to the public, the day will give budding Roger Federers of all ages a chance to have a hit.
“You can come and register for the upcoming season or to become a friend of the club and support events and upgrades and stay up-to-date on what we’re up to,” Ms Clark said.
“Or you can just come and not sign up to anything. It’ll just be a really relaxed social gathering before the season starts.”
Ms Clark said she was excited to step up as president.
“I have big shoes to fill, but I’m really excited to see what the future holds for the club. I’d like to use technology to our advantage and update our website and Facebook to improve communication,” she said.
“I’d also like to ... introduce a mums and bubs group or more social tennis options.”
The free tennis and registration day will be held at the courts on Friday, September 15 from 4pm to 6pm.
