Council policies undergo review
TWELVE of Campaspe Shire Council’s policies have been reviewed.
The policies are reviewed annually to look at how the council can function better.
Councillor Leanne Pentreath said the review looked at minor changes.
‘‘It is about best practices,’’ she said.
‘‘To ensure our staff meet legislative and regulatory practices and that we are in line with other local governments.
‘‘It is making sure everything is current.’’
The Assistance to Landcare Groups, Annual Caravan Site Occupancy, Media Relations, Councillor Support and Entitlements, Appeals and Collections, Street Raffles, Stalls and Busking, Privacy and Data Protection Policy, New or Replacement Street and Nature Strip Trees, Public Open Space Provision, Occupational Health and Safety, Play Spaces Development, Model Litigant Policy for Civil Litigation and Revenue and Debt Collection policies were reviewed.
Councillor Leigh Wilson said the policies were how council operated as a business.
‘‘We get a fair bit of criticism about how we do things and these policies outline why,’’ he said.
‘‘For those people who wish to read them, I highly suggest doing it.’’
