Coun­cil poli­cies un­dergo re­view

TWELVE of Cam­paspe Shire Coun­cil’s poli­cies have been re­viewed.

The poli­cies are re­viewed an­nu­ally to look at how the coun­cil can func­tion bet­ter.

Coun­cil­lor Leanne Pen­treath said the re­view looked at mi­nor changes.

‘‘It is about best prac­tices,’’ she said.

‘‘To en­sure our staff meet leg­isla­tive and reg­u­la­tory prac­tices and that we are in line with other lo­cal gov­ern­ments.

‘‘It is mak­ing sure ev­ery­thing is cur­rent.’’

The As­sis­tance to Land­care Groups, An­nual Car­a­van Site Oc­cu­pancy, Me­dia Re­la­tions, Coun­cil­lor Sup­port and En­ti­tle­ments, Ap­peals and Col­lec­tions, Street Raf­fles, Stalls and Busk­ing, Pri­vacy and Data Pro­tec­tion Pol­icy, New or Re­place­ment Street and Na­ture Strip Trees, Pub­lic Open Space Pro­vi­sion, Oc­cu­pa­tional Health and Safety, Play Spa­ces De­vel­op­ment, Model Lit­i­gant Pol­icy for Civil Lit­i­ga­tion and Rev­enue and Debt Col­lec­tion poli­cies were re­viewed.

Coun­cil­lor Leigh Wil­son said the poli­cies were how coun­cil op­er­ated as a busi­ness.

‘‘We get a fair bit of crit­i­cism about how we do things and th­ese poli­cies out­line why,’’ he said.

‘‘For those peo­ple who wish to read them, I highly sug­gest do­ing it.’’
