40 years ago RUSHWORTH golf associates’ third aggregate round was held last week. Scores are still high, probably reflecting the heavy conditions that have been prevailing.
Ann Pearce took out the A grade honors with 93-21-72 on a countback from Doris Barlow 93-21-72.
B grade went to Florence Perry with 96-28-68 on a countback from Lorraine Barlow 102-34-68. Nearest the pin was Florence Perry.
The aggregate trophy, which is donated by the associates’ captain each year, was this year won by Lorraine Barlow from Doris Barlow (second) and Nan Jessup (third).
Charity day will be held on Monday September 18. It will be a 4BBB stableford with all profits to cancer research.
20 years ago THE Kyabram Probus Club recently celebrated its fifth birthday.
The first meeting was held in May 1993 and meetings have been held monthly since then. Member numbers are growing steadily.
People who are retired or semi-retired are welcome to attend meetings and if interested apply to become a member.
In recent months, the club has enjoyed day trips to Bendigo and Rushworth. Speakers at meetings have included Roz Kellett and Karen Burt, of CamCare.
Jim Dullard, senior officer stationed in Shepparton, gave a comprehensive coverage of the CFA and its activities and Mrs Louisa Gobbo compared her early life in Italy with life in Australia.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, September 7 at the RSL Hall at 10am. Joan Smith and her guide dog from the Association for the Blind will be there.
