Newton’s law for a long life

Kyabram Free Press - - NEWS -

ONE of Kyabram’s oldest residents, Newton Tomasini, recently celebrated his 97th birthday and he made some time to tell his seven-month-old great granddaughter Sophie Kennedy (both pictured above) about the wonderful life he has lived.

‘Newt’, as he is affectionately known to family and friends, is still very active despite closing in on the century milestone. He still drives and enjoy a regular game of bowls and golf.

And he still pulls his weight on the home front, mowing lawns and doing the lawn edgings regularly.

While living in Kyabram for more than 40 years with wife June, Newt was a dairyfarmer at Stanhope for a good part of his life and before retiring commuted daily to Stanhope to run his farm. And Newt’s recipe for a long life? ‘‘I do what I’m told... most of the time,’’ he replies with a chuckle.
