The men who had their fingers on the ’80s’ pulse
DOCTORS Stephen Hanslow, Jeremy Frost and Peter Hool are pictured above on the front verandah of their Medical Clinic at 29 Church St, Kyabram.
The three doctors moved from the Fenaughty St Clinic about 1985 to the newly renovated Church St home “Belgay”.
“Belgay” was built in the late 1890s for Mr J Thomson who had purchased the Kyabram Coach Works in Allan St.
A few years later it was purchased by Mr T M Knight of Knights Big Store.
Many additions have been made to the home since that time.
Dr Frost came to Kyabram in 1976. Dr Hanslow practiced in Kyabram for 15 years and Dr Hool came to Kyabram at the end of 1984.
Other doctors who practiced at the clinic were Dr Sue Kennon, Dr Andrew Cope (who came in 1989) and two international doctors Gihad (Michael) Chabbou from Syria and Alif Griss from Egypt.
The Church St Clinic closed in 2002 when Dr Frost and family moved to Melbourne.
Dr Hool then moved into the Fenaughty St Clinic where he is still practicing. Compiled by Eileen Sullivan, Kyabram Historical Society voluntary librarian
