You can have a crack at croquet

Kyabram Free Press - - NEWS -

KYABRAM Croquet Club is celebrating seniors week by giving everyone the chance to try their hand at this most traditional of games — it even featured in Alice in Wonderland, so popular has it been.

And all you need for your first crack at croquet is a pair of flat-soled shoes.

“You don’t have to book in for the day; people can just roll up here when they are ready and come on in,’’ Kyabram Croquet Club secretary Margaret Sullivan said.

‘‘The more we can encourage to come along and have a go the merrier it will be,’’ she said.

“It’s a low-impact sport, with no excessive bending or twisting, so it’s also great for people with injuries who want to get out and still continue playing in a competitive but friendly sport.”

The come and try day will be on Monday, October 8, and runs from 8.30am-12pm.

Players are advised to remember those flat-soled shoes because equipment and light refreshments will be provided on the day.
