Snake bites boy, 2

AF­TER a re­port in the Free Press last week on the stag­ger­ing amount of snake ac­tiv­ity be­ing re­ported of late it has been re­vealed a two-year-old Co­huna boy also was treated for a bite last week.

This fol­lowed a 73-year-old Nathalia man re­cov­er­ing af­ter be­ing bit­ten on a day when there were three other hu­man snake bite vic­tims re­ported across the state.

One Kyabram farmer has since told Traps he had seen four snakes on one day at his prop­erty while a Lan­caster woman re­ported sight­ing three large snakes mak­ing their way un­der her home.

Last week the Lan­caster ve­teri­nary clinic re­vealed 20 cases of pet cats and dogs suf­fer­ing snake bites over a two-week pe­riod.

Dr Ju­dith Mul­hol­land, of the Lan­caster ve­teri­nary clinic, ad­vised any­one who sus­pected an an­i­mal could be suf­fer­ing snake bite to act im­me­di­ately and get it to a vet to im­prove the chances of the bite not prov­ing deadly.
