CWA re-elects of­fice bear­ers

THE Sheri­dan/Kyabram branch of The Coun­try Women’s As­so­ci­a­tion of Vic­to­ria has had an in­ter­est­ing, busy and pro­duc­tive year through­out the 2017–18 pe­riod.

Group pres­i­dent Lyn Trezise and group sec­re­tary Jan­ice Bar­rette were wel­comed. Lyn took the chair for elec­tion of of­fice bear­ers when the pres­i­dent, sec­re­tary and trea­surer were re­elected.

Many in­ter­est­ing meet­ing for­mats were cho­sen like the Jan­uary break­fast, March birth­day out­ing, April fish and chip night, June in­ter­na­tional Peru­vian cel­e­bra­tion, July Christ­mas in July Roast, foot­ball fi­nals fever in Septem­ber with footy fare eaten dur­ing the pro­gres­sive din­ner with ri­valry be­tween the many dressed in foot­ball colours. These func­tions cre­ate lots of fun and fel­low­ship be­tween mem­bers.

Many projects have been sup­ported dur­ing the year like the pan­cake day in Shep­par­ton, rugs and ted­dies for Sa­mar­i­tan’s Purse, Light­house Foun­da­tion in Shep­par­ton with knit­ting nee­dles amd yarn, Carolyn Chisholm Cen­tre with trauma ted­dies amd night wear for 8–12yo, bean­ies amd scarves for the home­less, Christ­mas cakes and pud­dings for St Vin­cent de Paul and Sal­va­tion Army.

Many lo­cal or­gan­i­sa­tions were re­cip­i­ents of monetary do­na­tions through­out the year. Group fun day in March to cel­e­brate CWA of Vic 90th birth­day – a great day at Harston. Sheri­dan won two sec­tions at Kyabram Show, while many per­sonal en­tries were suc­cess­ful. Mem­bers at­tended Rush­worth’s 90th and Lan­caster’s 70th birth­days and Bap­tist Church Soiree.

Mem­bers ros­tered to help on the stall at Kyabram Bush Mar­ket on Novem­ber 9 from 9am. Note we have been al­lo­cated a po­si­tion in the Walk­way next to An­nie Millers’ shop. Box of Gourmet gro­ceries to be raf­fled. CWA mer­chan­dise and gift items will also be avail­able. May un­load ve­hi­cles in Al­lan street, but street must be cleared of ve­hi­cles by 8.30am.

Fi­nal branch craft for 2018 at Ber­rie McMil­lan’s 10am Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 14. Please bring a shared plate of food for lunch. Will make a small Christ­mas item.

Hen­ley Friends High Tea Sun­day, Novem­ber 18 from 2-4pm at Se­nior Ci­ti­zens. Cost is $20.

Fi­nal group craft for 2018 at Tatura Com­mu­nity House Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 21 at 9am. Four will at­tend and take food for a shared lunch. Please take own cut­lery, crock­ery, glass and meat.

Any saleable do­na­tions of Christ­mas cook­ing wel­come. Mooroopna branch 50th birth­day Sun­day, De­cem­ber 2 at 1.30pm at se­niors’ rooms in Mooroopna. Christ­mas din­ner on Wed­nes­day, De­cem­ber 5 at Jen’s cafe´ — 6pm for 6.30pm. Rice bowl ap­peal. Gift to $5.
