Open your mind to possibilities

Angela explored innovative ways to expand her naturopathy business and was amazed by the exciting new world she discovered

Life & Style Weekend - - BUSINESS - with Carren Smith

THIS week I’d like to introduce you to Angela, a naturopath who is creating a unique business offering. I think we can

all take a leaf out of her book, regardless of our industry. Her tenacity, application, drive, success and willingness to try

something new has brought magic to her business. Check it out! “As a naturopath, as with many business models there are traditional ways of doing business. We see a client, we provide an assessment and make recommendations based on our expert opinion. This is traditionally how naturopaths operate and

it’s been great up to now, but I realised that I’m incredibly limited in the amount of money I can earn and the people I can

see. At best I can see 10 clients in a day, and when I do more, I’m absolutely shattered by the end of the day. So, not only is this business model taxing on me personally, it’s very short-sighted in terms of my income and ability to grow my profile and my

After years of frustration, I realised if I was to bring any kind of magic to my business model, I had to be prepared to be a bit unique and do things a little differently. I noticed that incredible success was being achieved in just about every other industry through taking products and services online, and while I knew it would be a challenge in every way, it was worth exploring the possibility!

I created a rough outline of just one service I offered and began throwing around ideas of content, layout, online options, video tutorials, public speaking and breaking into international markets… And I was terrified! I knew it was a challenge and I wanted to do it, but I really didn’t know if it would work and I knew it would be a big investment of my time. I also didn’t think I was all that good at speaking to a camera or speaking in public, so I felt lost, stuck and frustrated.

I came across Carren at a local networking group and without

hesitation signed up for her Speakers Fast-Trak training. She

was dynamic, compelling and, most importantly, was authentic, genuine and we clicked instantly. I thought to myself, ‘I can do

this, I just need the help of someone who has done it before’ and the next thing I know, I’m graduating from her programs and I was ready to take on the world. What a wild ride and wow, it has been worth it.

Since then, I have gone on to produce 24 online training videos, which form part of my magic business model, I’ve

created a series of online educational packages for my existing clients and I’m in the middle of developing an exceptional presentation for community and industry-specific networking groups to develop awareness and promotion for this new

It’s fantastic to feel an entirely refreshed and renewed sense of commitment to the future and my vision.

‘product line’. I’ve developed a social media strategy to educate my audience and I’ve created amazing relationships with other businesses to create even more value for my clients. I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve achieved so far and I really feel like I’ve just begun. It’s fantastic to feel an entirely refreshed and renewed sense of commitment to the future and my vision.

It really is a magic way to consider growth in any business and, to be honest, I never would have thought a naturopath could ‘go

online’ until I opened my mind and explored the potential!” Angela’s key message here is her willingness to be open and to explore what is not traditionally considered a ‘normal way of doing business’. What magic opportunities are available to you?

What are your long-term goals and how will you get there?

Explore fresh opportunities for business growth.
