WATCHES, they have been a staple piece of our everyday style since the start of time – pardon the pun!

Since the watch was invented by Peter Henlein in 1485, we have seen many faces of the everyday watch (again these puns just keep on coming).

The style of the watch has changed with each and every era, from the famous pocket watch in the 1400s to the popular wrist watch in the early 1900s. Digital watches were released in 1972 and it was goodbye clock face and hello digital.

As we reached the 21st century people favoured the timeless style (I know, sorry another pun) of the traditional clock face.

The watch, just like our clothes, has followed all the trends, with petite watch faces in the 1950s and 1960s to big bold and flashy in the 1980s. I can vividly remember as a child of the ‘80s, begging and pleading to Santa for a neon flik flak watch.

Fast forward to 2017 and I am wearing a stunning watch from John Taylor, an innovative business who have captured a traditional style with flair. The Noosa is a classic design, finished with a stunning rose gold face and a blush pink Italian leather strap. It’s simple but polished and a piece that works for everyday and embodies a feminine feel without needing to go over the top with flashy embellishments that sadly over time only cheapen the watch.

The Noosa design is just one of the beautiful designs John Taylor has on offer and with prices starting at $159 the price point is affordable for someone wanting lasting luxury without the hefty price tag.

Recently I had the pleasure of talking to the owners Anoushka and Dan and discovered the heart-warming story behind the start of their business. John Taylor began when their six-month-old daughter Isabella was diagnosed with a rare form of eye cancer. Left with no options other than to fly overseas to Los Angeles to receive special treatment costing a whopping $40,000. With no where to turn and not wanting to ask for a hand out they joined together and created John Taylor watches. Isabella has now completed her treatment in the US and Dan and Anoushka hope to continue helping other charities and families who find themselves in a similar position.

After hearing this feel good story behind the inception of John Taylor Watches, I have to say I love my Noosa watch even more.

The Noosa, from John Taylor Watches, is a stunning accessory. Watches have been a vital accessory for centuries, but the style has constantly evolved, from small and delicate to big and bold.
