MEET TOM DELMONT

Life & Style Weekend - - TASTE -

TOM Delmont is a man who loves beer, especially well made, hoppy IPAs. Luckily for him, he is the face of a brewing company dedicated to brewing nothing other than IPAs. He launched Fixation Brewing Co in 2015 with an aim to redefine what IPA means to Australian beer lovers. The company has shown a fanatical passion for quality which saw it receive Champion Medium Brewery in its second year of operation. Fixation Brewing Company has also collected gold medals at every Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA) and Craft Beer Awards (CBA) for its IPA and Squish Citrus IPA. Its approach is distinct with its commitment to brewing only IPA, cold chain logistics, beer quality and freshness. Before entering the beer world, Tom was employed by the Australian Government’s Agriculture Department, working as an entomologist in biosecurity. In 2007, he threw it all in and entered the world of good beer, quickly making a name as one of the first successful craft beer sales specialists in the industry. He relished spreading the word about great beer and as Melbourne brewery Mountain Goat’s first “On Road Goat”, he helped build the business into one of the most highly respected pioneers of modern Australian craft brewing in eight years. He was responsible for about half of the company’s total sales volume and represented the brand in Asia, NZ and North America. When Mountain Goat was sold by its founders in 2015, Tom felt the time was right to move on and remain in the independent beer sector, or start his own brewery. He did both. Fixation Brewing Co released the first Fruit IPA in a can in Australia when Squish Citrus IPA was first launched. Squish is a highly anticipated quarterly release, loved for the combination of luscious amounts of white grapefruit, blood orange and American citra, mosaic and amarillo hops. At 5.9 per cent the orange cans pack a bite, but are so damn refreshing they don’t last long. Have a taste at the Sunshine Coast Craft Beer & Cider Festival happening November 25.
