FASHIONABLE CROWD CONQUERS CHIC AT SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB MELBOURNE CUP CELEBRATION
WORDS: NATALIE TINK
This year I attended the Audi White House Celebrations Melbourne Cup Marquee at Sunshine Coast Turf Club. The event was to benefit the Hear and Say Centre on the Sunshine Coast and the amazing work they do for children and their families. The day was filled with fabulous Pol Roger Champagne, delicious canapés and lots of fashion as far as the eye could see. Fascinators in all shapes and sizes created from leather, lace and velvet. Oh my, I was in fashion heaven as the room quickly filled with ladies in frocks and, not to leave out the lads, who turned up the fashion stakes this year and joined in on the fun of dressing up. Melbourne Cup is quickly becoming more about the fashion than it is the racing, especially in the exclusive marquees. This year we saw navy, red, pink and yellow; more colours than you could expect in a bird aviary. All ladies were fluttering their fabulous threads as they swanned around marquees and enjoyed the atmosphere on the day. IStyle TV presenter Tam Wrigley hosted this year’s Fashions on the Field, that drew an enormous crowd of people watchers and fashionistas. This year’s crown was given to my fellow Life & Style columnist Danni Morrison, who without doubt was looking fit for Flemington in her stunning Asilio dress.
