For those who love the blues, this is the con­cert to put on the bucket list. The or­gan­is­ers of Blues­fest, held at Tya­garah Tea Tree Farm, out­side By­ron Bay, made their first an­nounce­ment in Septem­ber for the 2018 con­cert. There are some big names ap­pear­ing on the ini­tial run­down in­clud­ing Lionel Richie, who prom­ises a full arena spec­tac­u­lar, plus lo­cal le­gends The John But­ler Trio and Tash Sul­tana. Robert Plant and The Sen­sa­tional Space Shifters are also set to re­turn to thrill au­di­ences. Blues­fest di­rec­tor Pe­ter No­ble drops a few more names to en­tice mu­sic lovers. “Well here it is, the first of our an­nounce­ments for Blues­fest 2018, and what an an­nounce­ment it is. Lionel Richie, Robert Plant, The New Power Gen­er­a­tion, CHIC fea­tur­ing Nile Rodgers, Jose Gon­za­lez, First Aid Kit plus two of Aus­tralia’s great­est artists, The John But­ler Trio and Tash Sul­tana, who is on fire right now. “There is lots more from Morcheeba, the amaz­ing Lukas Nel­son and Prom­ise of the Real,” he says. “Eric Gales and the Cal­i­for­nia Honey­drops are re­turn­ing by pop­u­lar de­mand from the last fes­ti­val. “We have lots of blues in this an­nounce­ment too… and we are just get­ting started. “We are go­ing to have a great fes­ti­val in 2018. Hope to see you there.” The con­cert will be held from March 29 to April 2 and or­gan­is­ers prom­ise 12 hours of mu­sic each day. Tick­ets are avail­able at blues­fest.com.au.
