BA­SIC BREAD RECIPE

IN­GRE­DI­ENTS (MAKES 1 LARGE LOAF OR 12 BUNS)

• 4 cups flour

• 1 ½ cups wa­ter

• 2 tea­spoons salt

• 2 tea­spoons yeast

• 2 ta­ble­spoons honey

• 2 ta­ble­spoons olive oil

• 2 ta­ble­spoons pow­dered

milk (op­tional)

METHOD

STEP 1: Mix all in­gre­di­ents to­gether and knead for five min­utes, un­til a smooth, elas­tic dough forms. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 1½ hours. Punch down the dough and shape - ei­ther by forming a dozen rolls, or by press­ing into a Pull­man pan. Cover and proof an­other 30-45 min­utes.

STEP 2: Bake in an oven pre­heated to 375F (190C). Pull­man loaves will take 30-35 min­utes. Rolls will only take about 15-20 min­utes.
