HOW TO BE YOUR OWN BOSS AS A SINGLE MUM BY ALI GOLDS

Lift Magazine - - Book Reviews -

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS BOOK?

There aren’t a lot or resource made specifically for single mums by single mums. When you delve into finding books or courses or mentors that specialise in single motherhood, it can be like standing in a field of crickets. With one in five marriages ending in divorce today, it’s great to find a book that specialises in the unique challenges that being a single mum brings.

WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

It’s a combination of Ali’s personal account of setting up a business as a solo mum as well as a ‘how to’ guide to get started yourself.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO READ?

I devoured it in a couple of hours.

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND IT?

Definitely. Even if you’re not sure you want to start your own business or have no plans of ever starting your own business, it’s a great perspective of what life is like as a single working mum. Ali also includes case studies from other single mums and from their children about what it was like growing up with a single working mum. I read the whole book wanting to both hug and high five the author for sharing her story and expertise.
