I’m a little sad, but I don’t know exactly why. I use Gnome every day and always found Unity to be a bit clumsier/clunkier. I suppose that I thought it was more beginner friendly, and now a lot of people that have never encountered Gnome 3 will, come to 18.04 and suddenly find themselves in terra incognita.
