A fresh snapshot of Red­core, a rolling re­lease dis­tro based on Gen­too, is now avail­able. The lat­est ver­sion brings with it a num­ber of new pack­age up­grades and bug fixes. Ac­cord­ing to the re­lease an­nounce­ment (which can be read at https://groups.google.com/ fo­rum/?hl=en#%21topic/ red­core­linux/EqA-r822xpI), “This re­lease fo­cuses on pol­ish­ing the over­all look’n’feel and out of the box ex­pe­ri­ence of the dis­tri­bu­tion.” Red­core 1708 in­cludes a resync with Gen­too sta­ble portage tree (27.08.2017) and fea­tures Linux ker­nel LTS 4.9.40, with the 4.12.x ker­nel avail­able in the repos­i­tory, if you’d rather have a newer ver­sion.
