All about KELSEA BALLERINI
Kelsea Nicole Ballerini was born on September 12, 1993 and grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Kelsea wrote her first song at age 12 – it was called ‘ Oh Momma’ and came about because Kelsea forgot to buy a Mother’s Day present!
She grew up listening to pop music and it wasn’t until she listened to a song by Aussie, Keith Urban, that she converted to country music.
Kelsea moved to Nashville at age 15 to chase her music dreams and released her debut album, The First Time, in 2015.
Her first three singles ‘ LoveMe Like You Mean It’, ‘ Dibs’ and ‘ PeterPan’ all went to number one on the US country music charts, making her the first female since the ‘90s to do so!
Kels says that she’s “the biggest fangirl in the world” and still gets starstuck. She met Taylor Swift and Lady Antebellum at fan meet and greets several years ago and is now friends with them!
As well as being a talented singersongwriter, Kelsea was a dancer for 10 years and took lessons in ballet, jazz and hip-hop.
Kelsea has an adorable dog called Dibs, who was named after her hit single. For Halloween one year, Kelsea went as Tinker Bell and dressed Dibs as Tick Tock from the movie Peter Pan, which also happens to be the name of another Kelsea hit!
When she’s performing, Kelsea loves being a girly girl with her outfits. “…it’s no secret that I love glitter and I love bright colours,” she says.
Kels is about to become an honourary Aussie! She and Australian country music star Morgan Evans are set to marry at the end of the year.
She wrote the song Unapologetically, just three weeks after meeting Morgan. Aww!
Her second album (also called Unapologetically) is out November 3 and Kelsea wrote over 200 songs for the it. We can’t wait to hear what made the final cut!
