London’s Open House weekend is celebrating a quarter century, and now includes more than 700 buildings, tours and events in an effort to show off the city’s varied architecture, especially places not normally open to the wider public. While the likes of 30 St Mary Axe (better known as the Gherkin) are yearly favourites, it’s also a chance to peek into private houses, such as 6 Wood Lane (above) – a winner in this year’s RIBA Regional Awards.

Glengoyne Distillery is set at the foot of Dumgoyne Hill, surrounded by woodland which allegedly provided a hiding place for outlaw Rob Roy McGregor
