If tourists won’t go to the countr yside, let’s bring the countr yside to them. That’s the idea behind the Estonian Open-Air Museum (evm.ee), an excellent, sprawling complex four miles west of the city centre, where wooden farmhouses, windmills and other historic Estonian buildings have been plucked out and transplanted among the tall trees. Opening hours and events are reduced in winter compared to summer (as are entr y fees), but there’s a Christmas market on 16 –17 December.
