What is it? They don’t call them ‘Universal’ Serial Bus ports for nothing. USB ports get everywhere, but even so, this one took us all by surprise. TOWLHUB is a spindle for a kitchen roll, with four integrated USB ports in the base for charging your mobile devices. It’s available with optional Bluetooth speakers too, so you can stream your sounds from your iPod or IOS device while you charge it. Plus, the knob on the top of the spindle can be removed and used as a wine stopper. When’s it due? Should be out now. Why are we excited? This must be the weirdest fusion of a mundane appliance and unnecessary tech we’ve seen since the infamous iPod-compatible toilet roll holder. It’s bizarre, but we like it. Not enough to buy one, of course, but we can’t help finding it amusing.
