What is it? According to research, the average home has 5.7 internet-connected devices (Bloomberg), and kids spend around 7.5 hours a day on the internet (Kaiser Family Foundation). With Kudoso’s new parental controls, you as parents can take control of your router to make sure your kids aren’t spending all their time glued to a screen. As well as the usual features, such as blocking explicit or criminal sites, you can set your children tasks and chores that, when completed, earn them time on the net. Future releases are to incorporate fitness apps to reward exercise, too. Since the software is run from a cloud server, you can manage these tasks from your mobile or other web-connected device. When’s it due? Currently under Kickstarter funding. Why are we excited? If you back the Kudoso kickstarter campaign (kck.st/1iwiyEI), $89 buys you the software to install on a compatible router, or $119 gets you a Kudoso router with the software preinstalled. It’s a small price to pay for the peace of mind. Check out MacFormat’s Weekly Apple Extravaganza at youtu.be/kTh_As8Y3RY to see Matt and Chris discussing the router’s pro and cons on the show.
