Matt Bolton says:
This could easily be another letter about file futureproofing, with yet another obscure format coming out of the woodwork! PCD was a proprietary format for Kodak picture CDs, making it particularly difficult without the right tools. There’s a free conversion tool for Mac users called pcd to jpeg that, erm, turns PCDs into JPEGs. You can grab it from pcdtojpeg.sourceforge.net, or follow the links there to a more userfriendly tool called pcd Magic, which has been updated and checked for Mavericks.
me on the idea that iOS (not that it was called that yet, of course!) was the future. It was a fantastic design, too – it had tapering edges more like the chamfers in Apple’s current products than the other stuff it was making at the time. It didn’t last long as primarily a music player, though. It was pretty much a Peggle machine after the App Store launched.
