Works with iPhone, iPod touch, iPad Version 1.0 Age 9+

This side-on platform game brings Metroidstyle adventuring to the iPad, featuring a gemobsessed, fedora-wearing Indiana Jones wannabe. He searches a pyramid, unearthing relics and objects that enable further progression, and it soon becomes clear the game’s essentially one huge puzzle of interlocking mini-challenges.

Platformers rarely work on iOS, but the controls here are smart – well-placed on the screen, and they’re generally responsive enough that any deaths will be down to you rather than the game.

If anything, though, the scoring system is even smarter. One hit from something particularly nasty and you’re dead, but that only resets your score; you simply pick up in the room where you left off.

This means you can methodically work your way through the game, or start from scratch and try to beat the high scores of friends that pop up as you play. Craig Grannell

An approachable, slightly sedate but appealing iOS platform game, easily among the best of its kind.
